(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Rights groups have slammed the Bahraini regime and state-linked firms for unlawfully terminating 2,500 Bahraini employees because of taking part in nation-wide protests against the ruling Al Khalifa dynasty.
Some 2,500 state workers in Bahrain were dismissed from their jobs on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, 40 people detained in connection with anti-regime protests have been formally charged after spending several months in custody. The charges include “illegal assembly” and “trying to distort Bahrain's image.”
Thousands of protesters in Bahrain have been holding peaceful anti-government demonstrations since mid-February, demanding an end to the rule of the Al Khalifa dynasty.
Scores of people have been killed and hundreds arrested in the government clampdown on the demonstrations.
